ATI Academy: Year One
The ATI Academy delivers tuition online for the Diploma for Accounting Technicians programme.
Students typically attend live online classes two evening a week and are supported outside of weekly classes via interactive Q&A and Chat forums. All live online classes are also recorded so students can watch back at a time that suits them.
With the guidance of a teaching scheme and support of professional faculty our ATI Academy Online programme combines the flexibility of online learning with the structure and expertise of traditional education. We aim to empower our students with the knowledge and skills needed to excel in their exams and complete the programme.
The Diploma for Accounting Technicians is a two-year programme and each year is divided into 4 modules. The Year One Modules within the Diploma for Accounting Technicians programme provide foundational knowledge essential for progressing in accounting and taxation studies. The curriculum includes four core modules: Financial Accounting, Taxation, Business Law, and Business Management.
1. Financial Accounting
Financial Accounting introduces students to the fundamental principles of accounting. Topics include double-entry bookkeeping, preparing financial statements, and applying basic spreadsheet skills for business purposes.
2. Taxation
Taxation is split into two pathways depending on the jurisdiction: Northern Ireland (NI) and the Republic of Ireland (ROI). This module covers personal and business taxation, including PAYE systems, VAT, and specific schemes like the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) in NI and Relevant Contracts Tax (RCT) in ROI.
3. Business Law
Business Law also offers separate pathways for NI and ROI, focusing on the legal framework relevant to businesses. This module covers company law, contract law, and other essential legal aspects such as data protection and consumer rights.
4. Business Management
Business Management explores the structure and function of business organizations, leadership and management theories, and the use of information systems in business, with a strong focus on ethics, corporate governance, and social responsibility.
Each module is designed to ensure students acquire both theoretical understanding and practical skills, laying the groundwork for more advanced studies in the second year of the programme.
