Overview

The Accounting Technicians Ireland programme comprises a total of eight subjects, divided into First Year and Second Year. The subjects are as follows:

Students must pass Taxation, Financial Accounting and one other First Year subject before they can attempt any Second Year examination.

Students are allowed a maximum of ten years from when they first register to successfully complete all exams. For full details of the criteria for passing examinations, make sure to read our Rules and Regulations.

*Taxation, Advanced Taxation and Law & Ethics have separate syllabi for Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland to take account of the differing legislation and taxation rules that apply. Students may complete either the Northern Ireland (NI) examination or the Republic of Ireland (ROI) examination in each case.

** The examination for Integrated Accounting Systems (IAS) is a practical lab-based examination that is held in the college where you are studying. This exam takes place in April. All other examinations are held in May at centres around the country, with a second sitting held in August
