Accounting Technicians Ireland Appoints New Board Members

Dublin, IRELAND - June 30th 2011: Accounting Technicians Ireland, the leading professional body for accounting technicians on the island of Ireland, has appointed Brendan Heaphy FIATI and Louise Gorman MIATI to its Board of Directors. The appointments were officially made at the organisation's 28th Annual General Meeting held in Dublin.

Mr. Heaphy will now serve his second term as a Board member having been first co-opted in 2010, while Ms. Gorman is a new appointee. Both were chosen to serve on the Board following an election by members at the AGM.

Mr. Heaphy is Director/Co-owner of E.B.C (Limerick), a private third level college based in Limerick and has almost 15 years experience working in industry with organisations such as Molex (Ireland) and the ESB. He also lectures in ACCA, ICM and the Accounting Technicians Ireland qualification. He has been a member of Accounting Technicians Ireland since 2001 and is one of the first Fellows of the organisation.

Ms. Gorman is a self-employed business consultant based in Belfast. She provides accountancy services, financial advice and bookkeeping support to small businesses and charities as well as finance training for business start-up programmes. She has been a member of Accounting Technicians Ireland since 2008 and currently serves as a Committee member on the Ulster District Society of the organisation.

Commenting on the appointments, Bernadette Costello FCA, President, Accounting Technicians Ireland said: "The addition of Mr. Heaphy and Ms. Gorman to our Board of Directors will help in guiding the future growth of the organisation. Both bring a great deal of perspective and valuable insight to the Board and I look forward to working with them to realise our strategic vision."
