Dublin, IRELAND - June 22nd 2011: Accounting Technicians Ireland, the leading professional body for accounting technicians on the island of Ireland, has appointed Bernadette Costello FCA, as its new President for 2011/12. The appointment was officially made at the organisation's 28th Annual General Meeting held in Dublin.

"Given our focus on providing on-the-job skills, our graduates are well qualified to manage key finance functions across a variety of businesses, particularly those in the SME sector. Indeed, almost 95% of our members are in employment, testament that the qualification is seen by many employers as essential when they are hiring", said Ms. Costello.
"I plan on working with the organisation's executive team to help drive the development and recognition of the accounting technician qualification, as well as increasing our membership and developing closer links within the business community."
A Bachelor of Commerce graduate of the National University of Ireland, Galway, Ms. Costello trained as a chartered accountant with PricewaterhouseCoopers. At present, she is Director of Internal Audit and Risk Management at NUI Galway.
Ms. Costello has also worked on a number of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ireland Committees and currently serves as a Council member.
