Accounting Technicians Ireland Appoints Aidan Collins as New President

  • Appointment follows launch of new corporate identity for Accounting Technicians Ireland
  • President to help boost profile of organisation & accounting technicians

June 25th 2009: Accounting Technicians Ireland (formerly IATI), the leading professional body for accounting technicians in this country, has appointed Aidan Collins FCA, an experienced figure in the finance and accountancy sectors in Ireland, as its new President. This follows the launch yesterday of a new corporate identity by Accounting Technicians Ireland.

Mr. Collins succeeds Ann Campbell Crombie MIATI as President of Accounting Technicians Ireland. He was formally appointed to the position at the Annual General Meeting of the organisation, which was also held this week.

"This is an exciting time for Accounting Technicians Ireland. We've just launched our new corporate identity as a means of both boosting the profile of the organisation and increasing awareness of the important role that accounting technicians play in businesses, across all industry sectors," said Mr. Collins.

An Accounting & Finance graduate of Dublin City University, Mr. Collins qualified as a chartered accountant with IBM in 1992. He joined IONA Technologies in 1999 and worked subsequently in a number of roles in the company, from senior financial analyst to director of business operations.

Last year, Mr. Collins took up a position with multimedia software firm Adobe, to help grow the company's consulting business. At present, he is Adobe's financial planning & analysis manager for EMEA Services.

Parallel to his commercial life, Mr. Collins has been heavily involved with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland (ICAI). He served on the Institute's Council for six years and is currently serving on the finance board of ICAI.

On the international stage, Mr. Collins was Ireland's first ever representative on the information technology committee of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC).
