Will I have to sit exams?
Yes, but you have a maximum of six years to complete all the subject exams which means that you can take the exams at your own pace and one that fits in with your life style.
However, most students will complete the exams over a two year period. You will be credited with a pass in individual papers if you obtain 50% or higher. Each exam lasts for three hours, with the exception of Integrated Accounting Systems which is a three and a half hour exam. In order to apply for membership of Accounting Technicians Ireland you must pass each exam, subject to compensation rules.
However, Accounting Technicians Ireland will support you in preparing for your exams through the following mediums:
- Course manuals written specifically for the Accounting Technician programme
- A study guide to ease you into studying for a professional accounting qualification
- Past Papers and Solutions for you to consult while preparing for the exams
- Seminars which many students find invaluable in preparing for the exams. The seminars are run on Saturdays and cover the Accounting Technician syllabus
You have previously read that in order to gain the Accounting Technician qualification you must complete a two year course of study and two years relevant work experience. These two elements must be completed either simultaneously or at different phases.
