Introduction to Studying with ATI

The course allows you to work as an Accounting Technician professional in the corporate or public sector, or in private practice. It also offers you the opportunity to pursue further professional accountancy qualifications with one of the other professional accountancy bodies.

The Certificate for Accounting Technicians

The Certificate for Accounting Technicians (Year 1) offers a progression pathway into the Diploma for Accounting Technicians and can be completed on a full-time or part-time basis.

When students have completed the four First Year subjects listed below, they will receive the Certificate for Accounting Technicians award. The Certificate for Accounting Technicians is a QCF Level 4 award in the UK and Northern Ireland and is aligned with Level 6 of the Irish National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) in the Republic of Ireland.

In First Year students study:

 

  • Financial Accounting
  • Taxation
  • Business Law
  • Business Management

 

The Diploma for Accounting Technicians

The Diploma for Accounting Technicians is a QCF Level 5 award in the UK and Northern Ireland and is aligned with Level 6 of the Irish National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) in the Republic of Ireland. It is awarded on the successful completion of all First and Second Year modules and two years relevant work experience.

 

Year 2 modules can also be taken on a part-time or full-time basis. The Second Year subjects are as follows:

  • Advanced Financial Accounting
  • Advanced Taxation
  • Management Accounting
  • Integrated Accounting Systems (IAS)

 

On successful completion of Year 2 students may become Affiliate Members of Accounting Technicians Ireland allowing them to maintain their professional affiliation while they complete the work experience requirement of the Diploma.

Further Studies

The course is structured to maximise exemptions with leading professional bodies such as our partner, Chartered Accountants Ireland; the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA); the Institute of Certified Public Accountants (CPA); the Chartered Institute of Management Accounting (CIMA); and the Institute of Incorporated Public Accountants (IIPA).
