Work experience

In addition to passing our exams, students are required to have at least two years relevant work experience. Accounting Technicians Ireland will recognise any relevant work experience students obtained prior, during or after completing the examinations.

The reason for the work experience requirement is members of Accounting Technicians Ireland will be offering their services as a qualified Accounting Technician so must actually be able to do the work involved as well as understand the theory behind it.

We do not specify the precise work experience to be obtained given the variety of Accounting Technician roles. However, our Record of Work Experience outlines the areas students should be gaining experience in and we do encourage our students to review their Record of Work Experience with their employer on a regular basis.
