In the case of self-employed applicants, the record may be validated by an independent Accountant who is familiar with your work.
7. Under “Classification of Experience” how many boxes should I tick?
The ‘Classification of Experience’ section on pages 4 and 5 of the Record of Work Experience form is a full list of all areas of experience which we deem relevant. Please note Accounting Technicians Ireland realise that each applicants experience will differ depending on whether they work in a large corporation, a small firm or a practice. Therefore applicants are not required to complete all 63 areas.
8. Can I apply for Full Membership at any point during the year?
No, membership applications are only processed each autumn.
9. What is the closing date for Full Membership application?
There are two closing dates. This year these dates are August 5th 2011 and October 12th 2011.
10. What is the difference between these two deadlines? How would they affect my application?
Successful applicants from the first session of applications in August will be invited to graduate in one of four venues during the month of October. The second application closing date is for the benefit of applicants who sat exams in the autumn session. The second round of successful applicants will only be able to graduate at our final graduation ceremony of the year in December.
11. How long before I find out whether my application has been successful?
Once your application fee has been processed by our Accounts department, the Member Services team will process your application and work experience forms. Due to the volume of applications received this process can take anywhere between 3-5 weeks, at which point all applications are brought before our Board of Directors. If the Board is satisfied you have fulfilled the work experience criterion, you will be invited to become a full member and attend a graduation ceremony, where you will be presented with a certificate of membership.
12. I cannot attend the graduation ceremony; can I have my certificate now?
No, membership certificates are not processed until the Board has approved your application. In the event you are unable to attend a graduation ceremony your certificate of membership can be forwarded to the address of you choosing, after the final graduation has been held in December.
13. How often are graduation ceremonies held?
There are five graduation ceremonies held annually, four in October and one in December. The fifth December graduation ceremony is held in Dublin and is for the benefit of successful membership applicants who sat exams in the autumn session, thus missing the application deadline for the October ceremonies.
14. Where are the graduation held?
